Gallery Wall
Local Artists
Shadow and Shear isn’t just a salon, it’s a space for creative people to show up as they are. Our gallery wall features rotating work from local artists, with a focus on keeping things inclusive and accessible for folks who don’t always get the spotlight.
We keep our commission low so artists can actually benefit from sharing their work. For us, it’s about giving space, not taking it. If you're here, take a minute to look around. Every piece has a story worth noticing.

Rod Matheson -
ANALOGique vs The Book Assassin
Obsessively collecting music, television & bizarre books + magazines since the early 80’s, Cameraman Rod Matheson started collecting TV on VHS & making crazy clip-trip videos. He called it The Inner Tube & put ‘Television is a Drug & I am Your Dealer’ + his phone number on the labels. In the 90’s he made 100’s of mixtape cassettes calling them Music to Live By. In 2012, he filmed 1000 songs by 1000 artists over 1000 days in 1 take 1 shot videos & called the
project EveryDayMusic. In 2019, he started tearing up his 40 yr collection of books & magazines to make print collage & has since made over 100 pcs calling the collection that represents his bright side ANALOGique & the pieces representing his dark side The Book
Assassin.
There is no duplication or downloading in this very analog art, only images carefully cut from original pages & glued into place in a fugue state of creative flow. His collage art ponders memory + modern nostalgia at the end of the Analog Age in psychedelic time-capsules of bizarre pop culture references with stunning colour combinations.
After his socials were hacked in 2024 & he lost 1000’s of friends + 15yrs of stories, posts & conversations in a instant. As an analog man in this digital world, Rod has since enjoyed being a bit of a ‘digital ghost’ (with a primarily real world presence). But, will soon be launching a new site & socials to share his incredible collection. Limited edition prints, puzzles & clothing will be available online soon!
