Shadow and Shear is an inclusive, artist-forward hair salon located in Vancouver, BC. We operate on a chair rental model, supporting independent beauty professionals with a cozy, welcoming space that prioritizes inclusion. Our salon blends creative freedom with community engagement—offering hair services, retail hair products, and hosting local art. With a professional yet relaxed atmosphere, we’re redefining what a salon experience can be.
Shadow and Shear was created out of a need for something different — a space where both clients and stylists could feel truly at ease. We wanted to unmask, slow down, and show up as ourselves — without the pressure or performance that often comes with traditional salon environments.
From day one, clients have told us how much they love the cozy, intimate, and laid-back vibe. Appointments feel less like errands and more like catching up with a friend in a warm, creative space. That atmosphere didn’t happen by accident — it’s something we’ve built with care, and continue to protect with intention.
